Radioactive Chicago Day Camp

August 12-16 Ages 6-12 Radioactive Chicago Day-Camp: Don’t worry, your child will not glow in the dark (too much) after this one! Campers will learn about various forms of energy, about measuring radiation, and even about the atomic bomb. Campers will also enjoy an off-site field trip, science activities, arts and crafts, and camp games. Camp ends in a showcase and pizza party.

MAGE Math Day Camp

July 22-26 Ages 6-10 Students will receive a casual introduction to circle and competition mathematics with Dr. Marx. There will be a chance to laugh and make friends with intellectual peers in a fun camp environment. Campers will also enjoy an off-site field trip, STEM activities, swimming, arts and crafts, camp games, and daily indoor and outdoor play time. Camp ends in a parent showcase and a pizza party.

Gifted 202: Managing Anxiety and Perfectionism - Expert Panel Presentation and Discussion

Midwest Academy for Gifted Education and Chicago Gifted Community Center are co-sponsoring a free Chicago series of educational events for parents of gifted children. The format of this event is a 30-minute expert panel presentation on the topic, followed by a 15-minute question period for the panelists and a 30-minute mingle. The idea of the panel is to bring together a parent of a gifted child, a mental health professional, and a gifted educator, for different perspectives and ideas around solutions.

Demigods ages 8-12 can enter Camp Half Blood, if they have what it takes. This is a fan-fiction writing camp. Campers need to have read the first 2 Riordan Series, and be avid and voracious readers and writers. We want to urge everyone who feels strongly about excellence in Illinois schools to attend a meeting and voice support for keeping the proposed weighting of the Academic Indicator  (75%) and Student Success Indicator (25%)  for evaluating schools.

Winter Playdate: Rock the Pizza

Sunday, 12/9 11:30AM-1:30PM

Come and mingle with other gifted families, have some pizza (BYO if food allergies), and explore our modest collection of fossils and rocks. See which have phosphorescence or fluorescence. Bring your own carefully-labeled fossils or rocks for some show-and-tell. Or just come and play. A parent is required to be with all children and to supervise the entire time. Space is limited to 20 children (not counting infants). To reserve your place, RSVP here.
