September 29, 2019. We are ready! It’s clean, it’s furnished. See you on Monday, Chicago!

September 28, 2019. We took a planned break from getting ready to hang out at the Illinois Association for Gifted Children (IAGC) quarterly meetings. Do you think anyone from your school came to those meetings to learn how to teach your childen or to help advocate for gifted children? The answer, chances are, is no. Only a couple of school districts were represented, and only a couple of schools. If you think someone is going to advocate for your child, when you don’t do it, guess again. Only gifted families with privileged resources such as time, childcare, and education and the ability to travel to Aurora will advocate. The non-gifted families are not going to bother to make sure that your child gets equitable education and shows growth. So, roll up your sleeves and get into IAGC. Or at least, open your wallet and dish out $50 for membership, because that’s all the funds they get. We also picked up some last minute fixtures.

September 26, 2019. Radon equipment is being picked up today, report tomorrow. Not required for us for a while but we got it done. The first of 2-4 inspections to move from a children’s services facility where parents stay on site during toward eventual drop off and full time school is scheduled for Thursday of next week. We anticipate we are 3-4 weeks out to allow for drop off as well.

September 25, 2019. Received business license! We are officially opening on Monday!

September 24, 2019. We passed all inspections! The new track lights are up! Radon inspection is running. When this completes, there will be a third coat on the floor. The back area still needs to be painted after the Radon is done as we can’t disrupt the testing. Lead testing results came back as normal. We will see everyone next week!

September 20, 2019. The walls are painted. The fire extinguishers are getting installed. Floors and light installation are going to be done over the weekend! We are about to send out our open house schedule! Everyone is asking, what can we bring? Well, if you have any plants that have become too big for your house that you are looking to get rid of, we have 20 foot ceilings.
