Executive Functioning Skills for the Middle and High School Student (ages 11+)
Pardon the construction dust! Please be aware that a designated caregiver has to stay on site until we receive the city permit for drop offs. Once we receive city approval, we will notify you that you can now drop off your child. You will have to sign off on this during registration.
Price: this is a 5-week class that costs $100 ($90 each additional sibling). Drop-in: no. Rolling enrollment: no. Please note the meeting dates below.
Description: This course will help students better identify their areas of strength and weakness--and focuses on using strengths to accommodate weaknesses. We will cover the following executive function areas, explaining each one with examples:
Planning/prioritizing (with understanding of "important" vs. "urgent”)
Each of these will be explained and an example given. Students will keep an inventory of skills they are strong in and skills they are not so strong in. They will have homework that will require parent involvement and input to help students find new ways to accommodate their weaknesses by using their strengths in the context of their own world. This homework is a way to help them build self-advocacy skills.
*We have reserved the hour of 12PM to 1PM to be open to enrolled students for a lunch space. Families are welcome to bring a lunch, socialize and play before class during that time, but are responsible for supervising their own children.
