Pardon the construction dust! Please be aware that a designated caregiver has to stay on site and come with us on field trips until we receive the city permit for drop offs. Once we receive city approval, we will notify you that you can now drop off your child. You will have to sign off on this during registration.
Free Open House Class: Thursday, October 3, 2019, 1:00PM-2:45PM*
Description: Calling all Artists! The Art Explorers class is a 10 week course that meets Thursdays for 1 hour and 45 minutes weekly. Students will go on walking field trips to some of the top local art spaces and galleries to learn about contemporary art, while also getting a crash course in art history to understand its significance. There will also be studio-based art making days. Spaces we may visit include Intuit: The Center for Intuitive and Outsider Art, Roots & Culture Contemporary Art Center, and the many great art galleries that West Town has to offer. Students will make sketchbooks that they will bring on outings to make drawings and written notes inspired by the work they see. These ideas may influence the work they create back in the studio. Materials will be offered that relate to the work from the exhibitions that are visited. The class will culminate in an exhibition of student work that parents are encouraged to attend. Because this is a traveling class, parents will need to sign trip waivers.
*We have reserved the hour of 12PM to 1PM to be open to enrolled students for a lunch space. Families are welcome to bring a lunch, socialize and play before class during that time, but are responsible for supervising their own children.
Ages: 6-12. 5-year olds or siblings outside of this age range may be able to join for free. Contact us for the case-by-case basis determination.
Price: 10 sessions $300 ($275 each additional sibling). Drop-in: $35 per class if the teacher can accommodate and the class has room. This covers gallery admissions fees for one chaperone and the enrolled child as well as art supplies that will be used in the class.
Dates: This class meets on the following Thursdays for one hour and forty five minutes, from 1:00PM to 2:45PM. Please note that December 19th is the class expo.
