Free Open House Class: Tuesday, October 1, 2019, 10:00AM-10:45AM

Description: This is a combination reading and writing class focused on fables, that will be tailored to each child’s interests and reading level. Students will read and analyze a variety of fables and then begin the journey of writing their very own. Our teacher is a master at differentiation regardless of placement but we do have an acceleration policy in place. We are open to a high school level session as well and have the teachers for it. If your child has dyslexia, know that they can be in either the 2e or the regular class and will be able to use assistive technology as needed. It is up to you to select which level class you would like to join based on your child’s needs, if they have dyslexia, anxiety dx, etc.

We have reserved the hour of 12PM to 1PM to be open to enrolled students for a lunch space. Families are welcome to bring a lunch, socialize and play before or after class during that time, but are responsible for supervising their own children and cleaning up after themselves.

Ages: 8-14, email us if you feel your child will be best served by this age range class without being this age.

  • If your child is behind age grade in reading and writing or if they are at/ahead of age grade but have other challenges, then this is more likely to be the right placement.

  • There is a call on Tuesday, September 24, at 10AM that is sent out to registered participants, that you can dial into and get your specific questions answered, as well as by emailing admissions. We make a determination on a case-by case basis and provide you with feedback about ongoing participation after the free open house as well. No one has ever run a class like this before in Illinois, so we are excited to try it, and we hope the students have a terrific time in class while picking up new skills and building their confidence.
